Fall into Autumn Beers and Cocktails

by admin on October 19, 2012

Can you think of anything that says autumn like fall-flavored beers and cocktails? We can’t! We’re enjoying this season’s influx of pumpkin flavored brews and warming cocktails, and we wanted to give you a rundown of these fall beverages so you can join us for a drink at Molly Maguire’s Black Point Inn in Rumson!

Though we’ve recently experienced an explosion of pumpkin beers, this delicious fall treat was actually born in the Colonial era. Pumpkin brews had a quiet start, not becoming widely popular until the mid-80’s when Buffalo Bill’s started serving up a new take on the old drink. Since its revival, Buffalo Bill’s has had fierce competition in creating the season’s best pumpkin beer. There are many to try, so you’ll have to fill us in on your favorites!

While pumpkin flavored beer is a popular fall drink, there are a variety of other beers to enjoy throughout the season. Fall brews tend to be more flavorful than your go-to summer beer. You’ll notice deeper colors combined with a heartier, bold flavor. Fall’s popular beers include:

  • Belgian-Style Brown Ale
  • Pumpkin Ale
  • Dunkelweizen
  • Extra Special Bitter
  • Weizeneisbock
  • American Porter
  • American Brown Ale
  • Belgian Strong Pale Ale

If you prefer to sip a cocktail, fall is an excellent time to give a new drink a try. To stick with the essence of the season, people often choose drinks that are warming and feature your favorite fall flavors. Some of the more popular cocktails for the season are:

  • Spiked Apple Cider
  • Mulled Wine
  • Hot Apple Toddy
  • Hunter’s Cocktail
  • Manhattan
  • Pumpkin Martini

These drinks tend to be heartier and feature whiskey, which tends to have a more warming quality. Another option for fall is a classic scotch, another warming beverage.

With so many drink options to keep you in the fall spirit, it will be difficult to pick just one. Luckily, this Rumson restaurant has you covered! We’re serving up the best specials on your favorite fall drinks all season long. Stop by to see us and don’t forget to ‘Like’ us on Facebook to keep up with our great specials year-round.
